When the Constitution was framed by Eminent legal luminaries and presented in the Parliament for hearing, there was a dispute over the term - in accordance with law - and at the behest of Mahaperiavah, representations were made to suitably amend the clause. Result.
The final form of Article 26 reads as follows:
...Every Religious denomination or any section thereof, shall have the right to:
(A)Establish and maintain institutions for religious and charitable purposes,
(B)Manage its own affairs in matters of Religion,
(C)Own and acquire moveable and immovable property and
( D)Administer such property in accordance with law...

Further, anticipating even
irreligiousness may come to power, in some of the States, because of which Religious Instituions may suffer, this was transferred from State list to Concurrent List also.

விழுப்புரம் அருகில் உள்ளது வடவாம்பலம் கிராமம். 1926-ம ஆண்டு மகா பெரியவர் அந்த வழியாக போகும்போது மனதில் ஏற்பட்ட திடீர் சலனத்தின் காரணமாக அந்த கிராமத்துக்குள் தன் பரிவாரங்களுடன் நுழைந்தார்.”இங்கே ஒரு சந்நியாசி இருந்தாரே, ஞாபகம் இருக்கிறதா? என்று எதிர்பட்ட கிராமத்து முதியோர்களிடம் கேட்டார், யாருக்கும் தெரியவில்லை. ஆனால் அந்த கும்பலில் இருந்த ஒரு முதியவர் மட்டும் அந்த ஊரில் பல வருடங்களுக்கு முன் ஒரு துறவி இருந்ததாகவும், அவர் அதே ஓரில் சமாதி அடைந்ததாகவும் சொன்னார். இரண்டு, மூன்று வருடங்கள் அவரது சமாதிக்கு பூஜைகள் தொடர்ந்து நடந்ததாகவும், பிறகு அது நின்று போனதாகவும் சொன்னார். ஆத்ம போதேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள் என்னும் 58-வது பீடாதிபதி அங்கேதான் சமாதி அடைந்திருக்கிறார் என்பதை தெரிந்துகொண்ட மகான் அந்த கிராமம் முழுக்கத் தேடி அவரது சமாதியை கண்டுபிடித்தார். பிறகு தன்னுடன் வந்த அடியார்களில் ஒருவரிடம் அந்த இடத்தை தோண்ட சொன்னார்.’அகலமாக வேண்டாம், ஆழமாக தோண்டுங்கள்’ என்று கட்டளையிட்டார். 

மண்வெட்டிஎடுத்து மகான் காட்டிய இடத்தை தோண்டினார் ஒருவர். அப்போது அருகில் இருந்த குமாரமங்கலம் சாம்பமூர்த்தி சாஸ்திரி என்பவர் மெய்மறந்து ‘தோண்டாதே தோண்டாதே’ என்று கூச்சலிட்டு அங்கேயே மயங்கி விழந்தார். தோண்டிய ஆசாமி திகைத்துபோய் உடனே தோண்டுவதை நிறுத்தினார். வெகு நேரத்துக்கு பிறகுதான் அவரது மயக்கம் தெளிந்தது. மகான் சாம்பமூர்த்தி சாஸ்திரியிடம் மெதுவாக விசாரித்தார். ‘உடலில் காவி .. கையில் தண்டம். கழுத்தில் ருத்திராட்ச மாலை .. நெற்றி நிறைய விபூதி .. இத்துடன் ஆகாயத்தை தொடுமளவு ஒரு துறவியின் உருவம் என் கண் முன் தோன்றியது. அவருக்கு முன்னால், ஆயிரக்கணக்கான அந்தணர்கள் வேதபாராயணம் செய்வதைக் கண்டேன். 


ஒரு கட்டத்தில் அவர் மெல்லிய குரலில் ‘தோண்டாதே .. தோண்டாதே’ என்று கூறியது என் செவிகளில் விழுந்தது. அதையே நானும் சொல்லியிருப்பேன் போலிருக்கிறது. பின்னர் அந்த நெடிய உருவம் சிறிதாகி மறைந்து போனது! ‘சதாசிவம். சதாசிவம்’ என்று யாரோ ஜெபித்துக் கொண்டிருப்பதைக் கேட்டேன்!’ என்றார். அதே இடத்தில்தான் ஸ்ரீஆத்ம போதேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அதிஷ்டானம் இருப்பதை உறுதிசெய்துகொண்ட மகாபெரியவா, 1927-ஆம் வருடம் ஜனவரி மாதம் 17-ஆம் தேதி அதிஷ்டானத்துக்கு பிருந்தாவனம் கட்டி, சிவலிங்க பிரதிஷ்டை செய்தார். இப்போது அங்கே வருடா வருடம் ஆராதனை நடக்கிறது.

திருவிடைமருதூர் - தைப்பூச ஜட பாராயணம்

கீழைத்தஞ்சாவூர் ஜில்லா நாகப்பட்டினத்தருகில் உள்ள காரப்பிடாகை என்னும் கிராமத்தில் பிறந்தவர் பாலகிருஷ்ண ஐயர். அவர் திருவிடைமருதூர் மஹாதான தெருவில் ஒரு மளிகை கடை வைத்து வியாபாரம் செய்து வந்தார். 1949 ஆம் வருஷம் முழுவதும் (அநேகமாக) காஞ்சி ஸ்ரீ மஹா ஸ்வாமிகள் திருவிடைமருதூரில் தங்கி இருந்தார்கள். அப்போது சிறு பையனாக இருந்த அவர் புதல்வர் ஸ்ரீ ரமணி, தீவிர ஆச்சாரிய பக்தராய் இருந்த தன் தந்தையுடன் ஸ்ரீ ஸ்வாமிகளை பல தினங்கள் தரிசித்து வந்தார்.

ஒரு நாள், ஸ்ரீ ஸ்வாமிகள் பாலகிருஷ்ண ஐயரிடம் 'கடைகளை ஞாயிற்று கிழமைகளில் வியாபாரிகள் மூடி விடுகிறார்களே? அன்று, அவசரமாக பொருள்களை வாங்க வேண்டியவர்கள் என்ன செய்வார்கள்? நீ உன் கடையை வியாழ கிழமைகளில் மூடி விட்டு, ஞாயிற்று கிழமைகளில் திறந்து வையேன்' என்று கூறினாராம். ஸ்ரீ பாலகிருஷ்ண ஐயர் அப்படியே செய்தார். பிறகு ஸ்ரீ பாலகிருஷ்ண ஐயர் அவர்களும் குடும்பத்தினரும் ஸ்ரீ ஸ்வாமிகளை தர்சித்து வந்தனம் செய்யும்போதெல்லாம் பெரியவாள் 'குருவாரம்' என்பார்.

ஸ்ரீ ரமணி பள்ளியில் படித்து, கல்லூரியில் பி.காம் பரிட்சையில் வெற்றி அடைந்த பின் டாட்டா நகரில் சில ஆண்டுகள் உத்தியோகம் இருந்து வந்தார். தமிழ் நாட்டில் வேலை கிடைத்தால் பெற்றோருடன் இருக்கலாம் என்ற எண்ணத்தில் ஒரு சமயம் மனக்கலக்கம் அடைந்த ரமணி 1969-70 இல் ஒரு நாள் காலையில் சின்ன காஞ்சிபுரத்தில் தங்கியிருந்த ஸ்ரீ மஹா ஸ்வாமிகளை தர்சித்து வந்தனம் செய்த போது காலை மணி சுமார் 7.30 இருக்கும். ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாள் ஜபம் செய்ய ஆரம்பிக்கும் சமயம், அணுக்க தொண்டர்கள் கூட அவர்களின் அருகில் செல்லக்கூடாது என்பது தெரியாது வந்தனம் செய்து எழுந்தபின் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாள் அருகில் ரமணியை உட்காரும்படி சைகை செய்தார்கள். தர்சனத்திற்கு வந்திருந்த பக்தர்களை அருகில் செல்ல வேண்டாம் என எச்சரித்தனர். ரமணியும் மூன்று முறை எச்சரித்தனர். ரமணி எழுந்து செல்ல எத்தனித்த பொழுது (இவை யாவும் ஜபம் ஆரம்பிக்கும் சில நிமிடங்கள் முன் நிகழ்ந்தவை) பெரியவாள் அவரை எழுந்து செல்ல வேண்டாம் என்பது போல் சைகை செய்தார்கள்.

ரமணி ஒளிவீசும் அவர் திருமுகத்தை பார்த்தபடி இருந்தார். அவர் கண்களில் நீர்த்துளிகள் வழிந்து கொண்டு இருந்தன. ஒரு மணியானது. ஜபம் முடிந்தது. ரமணி மறுபடியும் வந்தனம் செய்து 'பெரியவா அனுகிரகம் எப்பவும் இருக்க வேணும்' என்று பிரார்த்தித்தார். அன்று அவர்கள் புன்முறுவலுடன் ஆசீர்வதித்ததாலும் பெற்ற தர்சனத்தின் பயனாலும் சிறிது காலத்துக்கு பின் சென்னையில் பாண்ட்ஸ் கம்பெனி நிறுவனத்தில் நல்ல உத்தியோகம் பெற்று பல ஆண்டுகள் பணியாற்றி வந்தார்.

பின்னர் ஸ்ரீ மஹா ஸ்வாமிகள் காஞ்சியிலோ, தமிழ் நாட்டின் மற்ற இடங்களிலோ முகாமிட்டு இருக்கும்போது ஆங்காங்கு சென்று ரமணி ஸ்ரீ ஸ்வாமிகளை தர்சித்து வருவார். 1984 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் 1994 வரை காஞ்சியில் மாதமிரு முறைகளேனும் ஸ்ரீ மஹா பெரியவாளை இவர் தர்சிக்க தவறியதே இல்லை. ஸ்ரீ ஆச்சார்யாளின் விருப்பப்படி ஏற்பட்ட கங்கை கொண்ட சோழ புரத்தில் ஸ்வாமிக்கு பிரதியாண்டு அன்னாபிஷேகம், ஸ்ரீ மடத்தில் வருடாவருடம் நடைபெறும் வியாச பூஜை, குரு ஸ்வாமிகளின் ஆராதனை சமயங்களில் தன்னால் ஆன கைங்கர்யங்களில் ஈடுபட்டுக்கொண்டு திரு. ரமணி அடிக்கடி காஞ்சிபுரம் அடைந்து ஸ்ரீ மஹா ஸ்வாமிகளின் பிருந்தாவன தர்சனமும், இரு ஆச்சார்ய ஸ்வாமிகளின் தர்சனமும் செய்து வருவார்.

ஒரு நாள் வழக்கம் போல் ஐயனை தரிசிக்க ஸ்ரீ மடம் சென்று இருந்தார் ஸ்ரீ ரமணி மாமா, வெகு வருடங்கள் முன். பெரியவாள் அப்போது ஸ்ரீ சந்திர சேகர கனபாடிகள் மாமா அவர்களை அழைத்து 'நீங்கள் இனி வருடா வருடம் திருவிடை மருதூரில் தை பூசத்துக்கு ஜட பாராயணம் பண்ணுங்கள்' என்றார். ஸ்ரீ கனபாடிகள் மாமா அவர்களும் அப்படியே செய்வதாக சொல்லி இருக்கிறார். அந்த சமயம் பார்த்து ஸ்ரீ ரமணி மாமா நமஸ்காரம் செய்தவுடனே, 'இவனை கூட வெச்சுக்கோங்கோ, உதவி பண்ணுவான்' என்று சொல்லி இருக்கிறார். இதோ, இந்த வருடமும் 2013 ஜனவரி 15 இல் இருந்து 2013 ஜனவரி 27 வரை நெம்பர் 121, மஹா தான வீதி, திருவிடை மருதூர் என்ற முகவரியில் திருவிடை மருதூர் தை பூச ஜட பாராயண டிரஸ்ட் சார்பில் நடைபெறுகிறது.

திசம்பர் 2012 இல் பக்த அன்பர்களுடன் பகிர்ந்தது. இந்த வருடமும் தைப்பூசம் 2014 சனவரி 16, வியாழன் அன்று வருகிறது. ஏற்கனவே வேத பாராயணம் தொடங்கி நடைபெற்று வருகிறது மிக நல்ல முறையில்.

Periyava used to give solutions to various problems which are being explained by Periyava. But for some problems, without informing Periyava, Periyava will give solutions. Kanchipuram where Periyava was seated gave many judgements – gave solutions to vexed problems- which Periyava alone can do. Kanchipuram is serving as a court to many devotees. This thing happened to this family. Without any getting any regular income, it is not good to sell properties and take food. After some time, for Ramasamy Iyer, a house to live in and coconut thoppu was alone present. With this properties, he has to marry 4 daughters and 2 sons at a later stage. Two daughters were of marriageable age i.e. 22 and 20. He wanted to do marriage for two daughters but varan came for the first daughter and he did not want to miss that varan for that first daughter. So he decided to sell the coconut thoppu and planned to enter to an agreement and with the amount he got, he thought of his marriage works. But suddenly a shock came to him. His brother who was also the co owner of the coconut thoppu went to court and got stay stating that the coconut thoppu was also belonged to him and his brother cannot sell without his consent.

பெரியவா முன்னாடி உட்கார்ந்து பிரச்சனகள சொன்னா. அவா அண்ணா வசதியாக இருந்தும். தென்னந்தோப்பை விற்க தடுக்கிறா. எனக்கு சிராத்தம் பண்ண வழியில்லை என்ன சிராத்தத்திற்கு கூப்பிடலாம். எங்க அண்ணா வசதியாக இருந்தும் என்ன விற்று கல்யாணம் பண்ணிலாம் பார்க்கிறா ஆனா முடியலை. பெரியவா எல்லாத்தையும் கேட்டா. உடனே பிராசதம் கொடுத்தா. பிரசாதம் கொடுத்தபின் அங்கு இருக்கக்கூடாது. மனக்கவலையுடன் ராமசாமி வெளியே வரார்.

As this family was more attached to Sri Matam, he was before Periyava explaining the whole thing about his brother. His brother was affluent and even he did not allow him to take part in sradham of his father. He was not so rich to do sratham. He was so rich but he is not allowing him to sell coconut thoppu and got stay in the court. Periyava after hearing all things from Ramasamy Iyer, gave prasadam. After receiving prasadam, the devotees cannot be there and they have to move out. Likewise, Ramasamy Iyer with more worries as he failed to get a reply from Periyava was coming out. He met the kaingairya devotee Shri Balu and Ramasamy Iyer explained his position and the also not getting a good reply from Periayva. Shri Balu told about Periayva that parabrhmam knows everything and we know about Periyava. But for Ramasamy Iyer was worried when he thought of 4 girls. After some time, Ramasamy Iyer left the Sri Matam with more worries.

பார்த்தார். இருவரும் விசாரித்துக் கொண்டனர். அச்சமயம் பாலுவிடம் ராமசாமி என் பெண் கல்யாணத்துக்கு வந்தேன். ;பெரியவாளிடம் எல்லாத்தையும் சொன்னே. பிரசாதம் கொடுத்து அனுப்பிட்டா. எப்படி சமாளிக்க போறேன் தெரியலை. பாலு பரம்பிரும்மத்திற்கு எல்லாம் தெரியும். எந்த சமயத்தில எதை செய்யனும் தெரியும். இந்த வார்த்தைகள் கொஞசம் நம்பிக்கையுட்டினாலும். நாலு பெண்கள் நினைத்த மாத்திரம் மறுபடியும் கவலை.

A wealthy devotee with his wife and with assistants came for darsan of Periyava. He was before Periyava. .He prayed to Periyava. We will see what happens on 04 1 14.

Upaanyasagar Shri Margabandu with his wife and with some assistants with some fruits placed on bamboo plate was before Periayva. This Upanyasagar had great respect on Periayva. Periyava had also respect on this upanyasagar and whenever this upanyasagar visited Sri Matam, Periayva used to tell him to say something about divine matters and this upanyasagar will do pravachanam about divine things before Periayva. Such was the respect by this devotee and Periyava won’t leave without a lecture . When this devotee came for darsan, Periayva never turned this Margabandu side. When the kaingaria devotee went and informed Periayva, Periyava never responded. Periyava at that time was enquiring about the devotees who came for darsan but Periyava never seen Margabandu. Time was running. But the devotee Margabandu was sitting before Periyava. After some, Periyava turned Margabandu side and the upanyasagar Margabandu told Periyava about his proposed visit to Tirumala and performing of Srinivasa kalyanam as per his wife wish. Periyava never said yes or no to upanyasagar words. Periyava was talking with some devotees. The kaingariya devotee once again went near Periyava and told about the upanyasagar Shri Margabandu. The kaingariya devotee knew very well about Periyava because Periyava knew everything. After some Periyava turned on Margabandu side and told that you can perform Srinivasa kalyanam at any time but go and perform Padmavathi kalyanam. The devotees who were there were surprised at Periyva words because Srinivasan kalyanam is done for Perumal with thayaar. So the devotees and others were there were wondering why Periyava said like this. But the upansyasagar Shri Margabandu knowing very well about Padmavathi came out of the Sri Matam .

After some days Maravakadu Ramasamy Iyer with his wife with full of brightness on face came for darsan of Periyava with the marriage invitation of his daughter. The devotee Ramasamy wanted the blessings of Periyava and he started telling about his brother who had agreed to do everything for his daughter’s marriage and also agreed to perform upanayanam for his son. Moreover he also told that his son will be a disciple of him for knowing more things about upanyasam. Sri Ramasamy was very much happy about his brother for his sudden change of his attitude. Periyava after hearing all things from Ramasamy Iyer blessed the marriage.

Ramasamy Iyer who went in a confused state of mind about not getting a good reply from Periyava last time came out from Sri Matam with full of satisifaction. At that time, he met the kaingariya devotee Balu and also gave an invitation . The kaingaria devotee Balu who read the invitation fully came to know that Ramasamy Iyer is brother of Shri Margabandu. Because Balu was there when Periyava told that for performing marriage of Srinivasa at Tirumala many devotees were waiting but Periyava told Margabandu to perform Padmanavathi marriage. Balu was shocked after reading the invitation because Periyava knew the name of the daughter of Ramasamy as Padmavati. Whether is it possible to remember the names of girls of devotees. Periyava successfully enacted a drama.

Periyava came to the Sri Matam at the age of 13. Periyava knew 18 languages. Many vedic pundits came to Sri matam and taught various things about vedam, and other things to Periayva. Periyava is above mahan.The saints had many powers. They can read our mind, can also bring things under their control.
One day a great Tamil scholar Shri Jaganannathan Ki.Va.Ja came for darsan of Periayva. Periayva was discussing about things and also importance of tamil language. Sanskrit in the theva language and Sanskrit is used for performing various rituals and also used in puja. For Tamil the letter ழ ழ் occupy special place. When Periyava asked the specialities of Tamil language, Ki VA. Ja. was silent and he wanted Periayva to say a lot about Tamil language. Periayva told about the words அழகு . இந்த ழ வார்த்தை கேட்பதற்கு மிக ஆனந்தமாக இருக்கிறது.

தமிழ் ஏன் அழகான மொழி ?-நமது நண்பரிடம் எழுதியது.

”ழ / ழ்” என்பது தமிழுக்கே உரிய சிறப்பான எழுத்து. வேறு மொழிகளில் இந்த எழுத்து கிடையாது.

”ழ / ழ்” வரும் எந்த வார்த்தையும் அழகை/அழகாக இருக்கும். --- குழந்தை, குழல், அழகு, பழம், etc

அப்படியான எழுத்தான “ழ” வை ”தம்” மிடம் வைத்துள்ளதால், இந்த மொழிக்கு தமிழ் என்ற பெயர் வந்தது.

Periyava gave how the word Tamil would have come to the tamil scholar. Ki.Va.Ja. was happy to know all these things from Periayva and told Periayva that he will use it in his talks.

In another incident, Periayva was visiting Chennai airport. Engineers who were there were explaining various things about aircraft . Periayava also posed some questions to the engineers. The engineers who were with Periyava were surprised about the knowledge of Periyava. They wondered who would have taught all these things to Periayava. For mahans, they know many things.

In another incident, a wealthy family came for darsan of Periayva. There were 4 girls who had their hair cut like pop style and had all latest things on faces also. Periayva gave them some fruits and asked the girls to choose the fruits they wanted. After some, the girls were more attached with the Periayva. Periayva requested the girls whether they will listen to what he says. The girls accepted to hear what Periayva is going to say. The word Tamil – amma refers to ambal and the word appa refers to eswaran. Periyava told the girls to use Tamil while talking with their parents, sanyasis ,and family elders and they can talk in English in schools etc. Thus Periyava explained the importance of Tamil to the girls and the girls who spoke English later talked with Periyava in Tamil while getting uthiravau to leave the place.

Periyava was at camp Tanjore,Sethinipuram-Periayva got early at 3 am , went for snanam, started performing puja and puja was over at 9 am. After that, Periyava finished his bhiskhai also. Periyava asked the kaingaria devotees to sit for meals.They did not have the practice of taking food before 2 or 3 pm. As per Periayva uthiravau, they sat for meals and they consumed less food as they took food daily at the Sri Matam camp only after 2 pm. Periyava started for next camp and they travelled 10 miles. Hunger came for all the kaingaria devotees and they were thinking that they will get food only after Periayva finished evening puja i..e it may be around after 6 pm. They were very hungry. Periyava knew all these things. So Periyava took some mysore bak,some orange fruits, some mango fruits and orange mango mysore bak juice was ready . This was prepared by Periyava in Silver pela with uthirini was used for mixing all these things. Periyava called all the kaingariya devotees and Periayva served that juice to all the kaingaria devotees. Such was the karunai of Periayva towards others.

In another incident, Periyava sacrified his bhikshai for the sake of Andhra vaidiks. Periyava was camping in a forest area which was devoid of many facilities. At that time, some 3 to 4 vaidiks from Andhra came for darsan of Periyava. They used to take food –i..e. suyambagam- they will prepare food and they will take it. They won’t touch the food prepapred by others. Periyava asked the vaidiks to go for a bath, perform daily puja and then come here for meals. The kaingariya devotees were more worried because Periyava will insist to provide all facilities to the vaidiks who had come from Andhra. Facilities cannot be extended at the camp because it was a forest area. So the kaingria devotees were also worried. After finishing of daily pujas and other things, vaidiks who came from Andhra came for darsan of Periyava. Surprisingly Periyava told the vaidiks that facilities for cooking are very difficult and so I have asked the kaingria devotees to provide the food- bhikshai prepared for me- having less salt-not so tasty – to you. So you can take the food i..e bhikshai prepared for me. The kaingria devotees were somewhat happy because Periyava won’t insisit them to provide more facilities to the kaingria devotees. But on the other hand, they were worried because Periyava had sacrified his bhikshai for the sake of vaidiks who came from Andhra. Periayva told the kaingria devotees that today is ………… and so I will take only milk. Such was the karunai of Periayva towards others.

In another incident, Periayva was suffering stomach pain. So the ayurveda doctor Chennai gave some medicines for stomach pain for 30 days. The konar of the sri Matam who was looking after the cows came to Periyava and told that the cows were not taking food due to some reasons or other. Periyava gave all the ayurvedic medicines given by the doctor of Chennai, to that konar, konar mingled the medicines with jaggery and gave to the cows. In the evening cows were alright. Periyava got the message and the stomach pain of Periyava went away silently because that pain cannot trouble Periyava. By providing medicines given to him to the cows, trouble for cows had gone and so similarly stomach pain of Periyava also.
