மேட்டுர் ஶ்ரீராஜகோபாலன் - மகாபெரியவாளும் ஏகாம்பரமாகிய நானும் புத்தகத்திலிருந்து
இவர் பிரம்மச்சாரியாக ஶ்ரீ பெரியவாளுடன் யாத்திரையில் கலந்துக் கொண்டு கா
சிபுரத்தில் (Kanchipuram) ஶ்ரீ பெரியவாளுடன் அனுமதி பெற்று சன்னியாஸம்
வாங்கிக் கொண்டார். இவரது தகப்பனார் ஶ்ரீ மடத்திற்கு அடிக்கடி வருவது
பிட்சாவந்தனம் செய்வது போன்ற காரியங்களில் ஈடுபடுபவர் தந்தையும் சென்னை
செட்டிநாட்டரசர் கம்பெனியில் உத்திதயோகம் பரர்த்தவர்.

கெமிக்கல்ஸ் கம்பெனியில் பணி புரிந்தவர். ஶ்ரீ பெரியவாள்
இணையாத்தங்குடியில் இருக்கும் போது தரிசித்தவர். அதன்பின் ஶ்ரீ பெரியவாள்
கா சியில் (kanchi) தேனம்பாக்கத்தில் (சிவாஸதானம்) இருக்கும்போது ஶ்ரீ
பெரியவாளின் குரு ஆராதனைக் கைங்கர்யத்தை மேட்டுர் கெமிக்கல்ஸ்
உத்தியோகஸ்தர்களுடன் வந்து நடத்திக் கொடுப்பது வழக்கம். ஒரு சமயம் 1974ல்
ஶ்ரீபெரியவாள் சிவாஸ்தானத்தில் இருக்கும்போது கண் ஆபரேஷன் செய்து கொண்ட
சமயம் கம்பெனியில் தனது உத்யோகத்தை ராஜினாமா செய்து விட்டு புரணமாக
(poornamaga –fully) (ஶ்ரீபெரியவாளுடன் இருக்கலானார். இந்த பண்டரீபுர
யாத்திரையில் உடன் வந்தவர்களில் முக்கியமானவர்களில் இவரும் ஒருவர். இவர்
காங்சி (kanchi ) மகாஸ்வாமிகளிடம் சன்னியாசம் வாங்கிக் கொண்டார்ஃ.
மேட்டுர் ஸ்வாமிகள் என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டார்..He used to make all
arrangements of all things for himself and for bhikshai also.

Mettur
Swamigal who was closely associated with Periyava for more than 8 years
during Satara- Maharasthra yatra- travelled length and breadth of India
after getting sanyasam- led a simple life- attained siddhi on 02 11 13.
Mettur Swamigal attained siddhi in the morning hours i..e 6 am, on 02
11 13. Mettur Swamigal was not well for past one week . He was able to
interact with some devotees and many devotees got a chance to see
Swamigal personally at Thapovanam. Today he attined siddhi.
Swamigal was decorated for darsan of devotees. I was there at
Thapovanam- Govindapuram from 14-30 hours.-to 18-15 hrs. Swamigal was
placed in a raised place and many devotees had darsan.
Mahaabhishegam began at 15-30 hours and continued on 17-30 hours. Some
bamboo baskets were joined and kavi cloth was put around the basket.
Swamigal after mahaabhishegam was taken in procession followed by
mangala isai of Sivan adiyargal and nagaswaram and chanting of hara hara
sankara jaya jaya sankara.Swamigal procession stopped for one minute
before the sannidhi of Periyava- at Thapovanam and taken for adhistanam
for two more abhishegams ( I learnt) and lowering of the swamigal in the
pit dug exclusively for this -right side of Periyava temple-.
Swamigal procession started and then went around the Periyava temple,
then upto the entrance of the Thapovanam, stood for one minute before
Periyava sannidhi(doors were opened) and then went to the place where
brindavanam is going to be built later. The place is just right side of
Periayva temple .
At 19-00 hrs, the swamigal was placed in a bamboo basket - kavi kashayam cloth around it- and swamigal was lowered in the pit.
Two gold coins were placed in the eyes.
Thandam was broken in to three pieces and kamandalam were also placed with the swamigal in the pit.
15 bags of of salt or around 1500 kgs of salt and 3.5 kg vasambu powder were poured on the pit around the swamigal.
Cauvery sand was used to cover the pit.
A coconut was broken on the kapalam for the soul to go.
Mantrams were recited from 17-00 hrs to 18-00 hrs. Lot of flowers were used for abhishegam.
Nobody was allowed to take images in that area.
A kuchi (குச்சி) was placed from his head upto the surface.
In future, Siva lingam is going to be installed in this place.

11th day Narayana bali ----
13th day Aradhana with 16 brahmanals.
This is as per the version given by a devotee who was with the swamigal
till the function was over.. If any feels , some have to be altered pl.
do it.
This is to give information about what went at Thapovanam.

insisted on me to take photos but another friend told me not to take

Sri Mettur Swamigal :Update - thanks sri mahesh
As people near Him would know that He always had said “why people are
coming to see me? Seeing me is not getting darshan – seeing me is like
visiting Vandalur zoo and seeing” etc. I also heard that when people
asks for anugraham, He used to say, “when I am not even qualified to be a
sishya, how can I give anugraham to you?” etc…. He never considered
himself as a Mahan, thapasvi etc. Our natural response is “He is so
humble”. Even for that He had commented “it is funny people call me
humble when I tell the fact”
So are His ways of defining Himself. பெரியவாளோட சிஷ்யராச்சே –
அப்படித்தான் பேசுவார்!! For us He is someone who is one of the true
disciples of Mahaperiyava. Also many who have interacted with Him would
have noticed that He had not blessed anyone with two hands etc.
Mettur Swamigal on the day or few hours prior to siddhi showed an unusual way of behavior(in the positive tone), as I understand.
He behaved very similar to Mahaperiyava Himself. He suddenly called
someone to see if there are any “bakthas” waiting for “darshan”. When he
asked, it was midnight 12 o’ clock!! When people went to the gate,
there was actually someone waiting. They brought them inside and
Swamigal blessed him and kindly asked if he had dinner etc and asked him
to go to sleep etc. He asked few times if the devotee from USA had
arrived or not. Once arrived, He dearly blessed the whole family with
both hands raised.
Interstingly, about a week back, Swamigal
called the Mahaperiyava thapovanam priest and told him that He is going
to attain siddhi in 4-5 days!! This (secret – no longer!!) conversation
happened when all others are actively pursuing all medical attention
etc. He told him that linga prathista should be done and gave all
detailed instructions on what should be done after His siddhi! He was
waiting for something and holding his physical form until then – none of
us can tell why and what…All I can say is whoever got darshan before He
attained siddhi are blessed ones! Although my body was here in USA, my
mind was in Govindapuram. From my part, I conveyed my namaskarams
through Shivaraman, which was conveyed to Him. That is the best I could
do. I hope He remembered me at that time.
Here is where His
adishtanam is situated – soon a structure will come on top of this
place. He and His guru are sitting right opposite to each other to bless
us all.

நினைவில் இல்லை). என்னிடம் வந்து, ‘சார்… உங்களுக்கு ஞாபகம் இருக்கா? முதல்
தடவை நீங்க மேட்டூர் ஸ்வாமிகளை தரிசிக்க வந்தப்ப உங்க ரெண்டு பேருக்கும்
ஒத்துப் போகலை… ஆனால், அப்புறம்தான் உங்களை ஒவ்வொரு தடவையும் கூப்பிட்டுப்
பேசிண்டிருந்தார். நீங்களும் வர ஆரம்பிச்சேள்.’

மகா பெரியவா பக்தி என்றால், அப்படி ஒரு பக்தி மேட்டூர் ஸ்வாமிகளுக்கு.
பெரியவாளைப் பற்றி ஒரு வரிகூட தவறாக இதழ்களில் வந்து விடக் கூடாது என்பதில்
கவனமாக இருந்தார். வாழ்ந்தார்.

ஸ்வாமிகளுக்கு நடந்த அபிஷேகக் காட்சிகளைப் பார்த்தபோது அவர் ஸித்தி ஆகி
விட்டார் என்பதை நம்ப முடியவில்லை. என்றென்றும் நம்முடன் இருந்து அந்த
மகான் நம்மை வழி நடத்துவார்.
