annabishegam scheduled on 27th October-2015 at Gangaikonda cholapuram,

HELP NEEDED FOR EASWARA KAINGARYAM:
Attaching the invitation for Annabishegam scheduled on 27th October-2015 at Gangaikonda cholapuram,

For the past 29 years, as desired by Mahaaperiyava, "Ganga Jal" from Triveni Sangamam is brought every year to Gangaikonda Cholapuram to perform mahaabishegam to Lord Brihadeeswara.

Those visiting Allahabad in groups, are requested to collect one litre of gangajal at Triveni Sangamam (Triveni sangamam ONLY and nowhere else) and handover to any of the addresses given in 2nd page.

Once you land in Chennai, the organising committee members will collect the Ganga Jal at Central Railway station, if you inform them over phone, your date and time of arrival.

The Ganga Jal should reach chennai ON OR BEFORE 20/10/2015.

Those willing to contribute in any form for the Annabishegam are requested to contact the phone numbers in the handout.

Periyava’s care for plants and cows.

I first saw Periyaval in 18 03 1978.

That was a blessed day, the day when Periyava accepted me as his own. My father Sri T.R.Sundaramurthi(Teacher,Walajapet) had spoken of Periyaval’s greatness many a time. I had gone along with him often for Periyaval’s darsan. It was just a darsan. I felt nothing extraordinary happen to me. But the darsan I had on the 13^th March drew me to him forever. I was accepted as part of the fortunate group of attendants who served him.

Periyava was then at Sivasthanam. Can you guess what kind of work was allotted to me.? I had to draw up water from the well for the plants and trees.I was also given the sweet task of preparing a thin juice of jiggery and another,of spiced buttermilk plentifully, in huge cauldrons, to quench the thirst of the devotees who thronged the place in large numbers. In those days I was completely ignorant of the traditions and customs of the Sri Matha. Mettur Rajagopala Mama (later Mettur Swamigal), Balu Mama and the others taught me all that.

When Periyaval circumambulated the Sivasthanam Brahmapurisvara temple he would glance at every plant and every creeper there. He would look at the cows and calves very graciously. In later days I have often thought that these plants, creepers and cattle had such good fortune that they received Periyaval’s attentive look in this manner. In those days, Periyaval would ask me regularly,” What did you do today?” I would tell him all that I did. His answers would hold a wealth of teaching. He would point out my faults without doing so obviously,without hurting me and would school me out of it into maturity. Every morning by three o’ clock he would start from Sivasthanam and walk on the four mada streets of Sri Varadarajasvami temple in circumambulation. We would accompany him repeatedly chanting the Vishnu Sahasranamam in a soft voice.

Samaveda Sammelan commenced today morning at Shrimatham in the divine presence of HH Pujya Shri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal and HH Pujya Shri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal. As a part of the Shatabhisheka Mahotsav year, this is the third such sammelan after Rigveda Sammelan held at Lakshmi Kamakshi Temple, RA Puram, Chennai & Krishna Yajurveda Sammelan in Sanskrit College, Mylapore Chennai. More than 80 Shrautis from Kauthuma, Jaimineeya & Ranayaneeya Shakhas are taking part in the Sammelan.
The sammelan will conclude on 28th September on the Vishwaroopa Yatra day.

Sama Veda Sammelanam at Shrimatam - 23 - 28 September 2015

With the benign blessings of Pujyashri Shankaracharya Swamigals of Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Sama Veda Sammelanam will take place from 23 to 28 September 2015 at Shrimatam, Kanchipuram. More than 80 Sama Veda scholars belonging to the different branches of Sama Veda - Kauthuma, Jaimini and Ranayaneeya Shakhas will participate in the event and chant Sama Vedam. Upanyasams and discussions on different aspects of the Sama Veda will take place in the evenings.

Devotees are invited to attend and benefit by listening to the Veda Shabdas and discourses.

Periyava asked his salary and he told Rs.3000/- Periyava was surprised at his salary and wanted that vaidikis must also earn like that.Such was his interest on vaidiks. Now vaidiks are now better due to continuous patronage of Periyava. Moments in Lifetime-S Srinivasan (Adambakkam) .

In October 1968,,my second son-in-law met with a serious automobile accident on his way to Bangalore. He was rushed to a nursing home in Madras and was found to be in a very serious condition. Receiving word, I rushed from Delhi. I broke my journey at Hyderabad to get darsan and receive anugraha for my son-in-law,from his Holiness. Rushing from the airport to the Padmarao Nagar camp of His Holiness, I learnt that the camp was moving to Ramachandrapuram that evening. By the time, I reached there,most of the camp had left along with the puja and His Holiness too, was above to leave. On my appearing before Him,,he directed the palanquin on which he was seated,which had already been lifted up, to be placed on the ground. He received my obseisance, and enquired of me in gentle soothing words:”you know, of course,that your son-in-law is out of danger” when in fact,I knew nothing of that sort was full of anxiety. I learnt later that my son –in-law was being taken to the operation theatre for surgery as he had not passed urine for three days and this was causing great anxiety to the doctors and the family alike. At the very moment of the His Holiness’s blessings in Hyderabad, my son-in-law passed urine naturally and the need for surgery was removed, as also the grace concern felt till then. It was obvious that the Maha Swami’s query to me in his imitable way was itself the transmission of his grace on the stricken young man,who thereafter recovered rapidly.

Periyava was going along the streets visiting some houses. One small boy called Periyava ,Sir,come to my house. Devotees who were with Periyava told that boy that Periyava must be not called Sir. So the boy was along with Periyava and Periyava was visiting some houses. At one junction, Periyava stood for a while planning his direction. At that time, the boy came and called Periyava to his home. Periyava called the kaingariya devotees to know from that boy where is Sir house? Periyava went straight to that boy’s house and his parents prostrated Periyava . Thus Periyava also fulfilled the Sir invitation. The visit of Periyava was similar to Kuselar house. Another interesting thing about autograph. A small boy came with their parents for darsan of Periyava.This boy was in the habit of getting autographs from VIPs. So when he came with his parents to Sri Matam ,that boy wanted the autograph of the Periyava. Periyava told the boy that after coming to peetam, he was not in the habit of writing and so he thought for a while how to fulfill this boy’s ambition.Periyava thought for a while and called the Manager of the Sri Matam to give a letter having his name,mudrai of Sri Matam like blessings and greetings from Sri Matam delivered now to devotees ‘s houses for religious functions like narayanasmirithi and with the seal of Sri Matam. The boy was in full of joy that Periyava gave the autograph.But Periyava posed one question to that boy whether he will sign an autograph for him. How this can be done? The Manager of Sri Matam was instructed to get this boy’s signature in the visitors’ book register when VIPs visit the Sri Matam. Periyava called Ekambaram mama and enquired about his willingness to go home. Whether the children never want you to be with them. So you can go home to see your family. Ekambaram mama stood there without telling a word. But as he was doing kaingariyam to do Periyaval, he told that my family members wanted them to be taken where Periyava was staying and they wanted to be with me only. Periyaval in a joyful mood said whether they said like that and Ekambaram mama also said yes. If Ekambaram mama told Periyava that his family members wanted him to be with them, Periyava will sent the kaingariya devotees immediately. After hearing from Ekambaram mama, Periyava told that your family members can be brought here with proper escort. Accordingly they came and had darsan of Periyava. Periyava told Ekambaram mama to take them to other places in and around Sholapur. Periyava after some days talked with Ekambaram mama, son and daughter and enquired about their trip to various places, playing dolls bought by their father. They showed Periyava one horse cart and Periyava asked Ekambaram’s son whether your sister will travel in the cart with you. So Periyava came down to their level and discussed with them . Thus gnanais will behave like children or their acts cannot be inferred as Periyava went from one temple to another temple. Nobody knows it .
