Nagapattinam Neelayathatchi temple Adipooram rains came.,

Periyava wa s observing Chaturmasya vradham at Nagapattinam during 1940. At that time, there were no rains at Nagapattinam and the whole area of Nagapattinam was starved of water. At that time Adi pooram festival came for Nagapattinam Neelathayatchi amman. The organizers of the temple festival decided not to celebrate the festival due to acute shortage of water. So they decided not to celebrate the festival. It is not proper to stop a festival for ambal citing some reasons. The organizers of the temple festival decided to take up the matter with Periyava who was camping there. They went before Periyava and they were not able to speak a word but Periyava knowing all things gave prasadam to the organizers of the temple festival. They returned without telling anything to Periyava.

Periyava in the midsun walked towards the temple pond of Nagapattinam Neelathayatchi temple. Periyava stepped in the temple pond which was dry and pressed his right leg finger and some water came out. Periyava sprinked the water on his head and came to the camp.

Next day also, Periyava in the scorching sun went to the temple pond and some water came out from some place and looked at the sky with thandam on the pond.After some time Periyava was in the camp. The atmosphere in the sky suddenly changed and there was plenty of rains for four days and Nagapattinam and surrounding areas got plenty of water. The organizers of the temple festival committee were happy that due to Periyava, rains came and water was plenty and Adi Pooram festival took place with lot of happiness. Such was the karunai of Periyava.

Periyava showed karunai not only to his devotees but also all living creatures. Arcot, Poosamalaikuppam-Periayva was camping. At that time, animals like elephants,camels, cows etc. will be part of the Periyava camp. Many animals will be also in the camp of Periayva. At that time, one elephant was tied with chains under a thatched shed. Suddenly the thatched shed caught fire and the elephant which was chained by the mahout wanted to escape from the fire and was pulling the chain vigorously. . After sometime, the elephant got the chain broken and the elephant went to a place some distance from the camp site. The elephant was not seen by the mutt devotees and later it was found and the message came to Sri matam that the elephant was seen 12 kms from the Sri matam camp. Periyava asked the mahout and other devotees to bring the elephant back to Sri Matam. When the devotees and the mahout went near the elephant- some distance away, the elephant was not moved and failed to obey the commands of the mahout. The elephant was in mood of anger with the mahout for not looking after him for more than 12 days. The instructions of the mahout was not obeyed. So this message went to Periayva. 

Periyava himself walked the distance of 12 kms from the camp and went near the elephant alone. Periayava touched the trunk of the elephant and the tears from the elephant came as Bagawan has come to see him. The mahout came to the place where the elephant was seen but did not come to him. Many devotees also came but the elephant failed to come. When Periayva went near the elephant, the elephant was silent and walked behind Periayva. Such was the karunai of Periayava with living things and even the elephant which failed to obey the words of mahout reacted only to the actions of Periyava. 

Shri Balasubramanian –auditor of Chidambaram- coming in the tradion of U V Swaminatha Iyer-used to chant Chandrasekara esa, Chandraseakara esa . He used to visit Chidambaram temple daily and was chanting regularly chandraseka esa. The temple elephant was standing in one entrance and the elephant was behaving badly with the devotees. The devotees were standing at a distance of 100 metres.. At that time the devotee not knowing about the behavior of the elephant went near the elephant and the elephant got hold of the auditor with his trunk. At that time, the auditor was terrified but later starting changing Chandraseka esa, Chandraseka esa. When the chanting of Chandraseka esa was heard by the elephant, the elephant let down of the devotee from his trunk, knowing that no harm should be done to Periyva devotee.. Thus the chanting of Chandraseka esa saved the life of the devotee as Ganapathi did not want to harm the Periyava devotee. This incident was witnessed by many people standing at a distance of 100 metres. Thus an elephant also listened to the words of Periayva. The devotee did namaksarams to the elephant and walked away to the temple.

This is the story of Vaishanavite scholar- Iyengar swamigal and Periyava fulfilled his desire by making a devotee to send money order every month.  Periayva used to attend sadas in the Sri Matam at the conveninent dates  and scholars used attend sadas, discuss various points in the presence of the Periyava.  After the completion of sadas,Sri Matam authorities  used to distribute some amount for the scholars who attended the sadas.  A elderly Vaishnavite scholar attended sadas and also got equal amount that  was paid to a boy of 16 years age who attended sadas.  Some mind prickings was there for the aged Vaishnavite scholar and felt somewhat offended because he was paid equal with the boy of 16 years of age.  With these things, he went to the bus stand and was sitting in the bus, got the ticket from the bus conductor for 30 paise.  Periyava knew all these things.After the sadas was over, devotees who were waiting for darsan of Periyava came for darsan of Periyava. In that a couple was there and they want to say something to Periyava. But Periyava turned his attention somewhere and the advocate couple was not able to say what they wanted.  Periyava then and then turned his attention towards other devotees. Meanwhile, Periyava sent a boy to fetch the aged Vaishnavite scholar and the boy went to the bus stand, spoke with the Iyengar swamigal, got down from the bus and the aged scholar was before Periyava.  The Vaishnavite scholar refused to come to meet Periyava saying that he was here after attending the sadas.  Even the conductor gave the money he got for the bus ticket.  The aged scholar was before Periyava and the advocate couple was also before Periyava.  Periyava asked the advocate to note down the address of the Vaishnavite scholar-Iyengar swamigal  and the Vaishnavite scholar went to his place later. The advocate then tried to say something to Periyava.  Periyava told that advocate, that everything was over and need not elaborate.  The advocate wanted to say something to Periyava.  Then Periyava started that you wanted to send some amount to a Vedic scholar and through me, you wanted to do that.  That task had already been finished. That scholar was with you and I asked you to note down the address and you have also noted the address.  The advocate and his wife were not able to say anything to Periyava because Periyava showed the advocate the great aged scholar for whom the money has to be sent every month     even without getting the sayings from the advocate. Periyava finished the complete task of identifying the scholar, noting down the address of the scholar and also shown the scholar to the advocate .  The advocate cannot say anything to Periyava but Periyava knew all these things .

Thus Periyava fulfiflled the desires of the elderly Vaishnavite scholar- Iyengar swamigal who was going to his residence with the thinking of that he was being equated with a boy of 16 years in sadas, Periyava called him and assured him a monthly amount from a devotee, Periyava fulfilled the wishes of his devotee of finding a scholar and to send his monthly contribution.

In view of the Aradana of Sri Sri Sri Maha Periyavaa, and with the blessings of Sri Sri Shankaraachayaars of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, it has been proposed to conduct the Rig Samhitha Homam, Rig, Yajur and Saama Jada Parayanam and Srimath Ramayanam, Srimath Bagavatham, Sri Shanakara Baashyam Parayanam at Mahendramangalam from 19^th to 29^th December 2013.
Mahendramangalam was chosen specifically as our revered HH Mahaperiava had a special affinity towards this place and it was at this place from where the young Mahaperiava after taking over as the Pontiff of our Mutt, stayed, studied and discussed the very many salient features of the Vedas and the Upanishads with very many pundits and Scholars.
It is a sheer divine coincidence that we realized only recently that this 2013 also happens to be the 100th year of completion of his studies at this place.  He was in Mahendramangalam until 1913.
So it is with renewed vigor that the Trust intends to conduct the above Homam and Parayanam on a grand scale and as always to the fullest adherence of the laid shastric rules on conducting such Vedic rituals.
You are requested to participate with your family and friends in this holy event and experience the serene and encompassing vedic life.

சொல்லுவா. காசு பணம் செலவு கிடையாது. எது பண்ணின சாச்வதம். ஸ்திரம் சேமம் அதில  பெரியவா சொல்லிக் கொண்டு இருப்பா.

காக்காவுக்கு ஏன் சாப்பாடு போட வேண்டும்.

பெரியவாளிடம் ஒரு  பக்தை வந்து நா எங்கு போனாலும்  காக்கா துரத்துது. நான் என்ன பண்ணறது புரியலை வந்து நின்னா. பெரியவா நீ காக்காவுக்கு சாப்பாடு போடுவியா என கேட்டா.  பின்னர் நீ தினக்கும் காக்காவுக்கு சாப்பாடு போடு நல்லெண்ணெய் போட்டு சாமிக்கு விளக்கு போடு சனிக்கிழமையில சிவன் கோயில் போயிட்டு வா என்ற அறிவுரைகள சொன்னா. அந்த பக்தையும் போயிட்டா.

பெரியவா அங்கு இருந்த தொண்டர்களிடம் ஏண்டா இந்த மடத்துக்கு யானை   பெருச்சாளி எலி அணில் குரங்கு புனை எல்லாம் வரது ஆட்டம் போடுது. ஆனா இந்த காக்கா மட்டும் ஏண்டா வரலை.

அவரிடம் இருந்த கண்ணன் தொண்டர் பெரியவா சாட்சாத் பரமேஸ்வரன். பரமேஸ்’வரன் இருக்க சனீஸ்வரனுக்கு என்ன வேலை. மேலும் பரமேஸ்வரனுக்கு பயந்து சனிஸவரன் தன் வாகனத்தை மடத்துக்கு அனுப்பலை. அதாவது காக்கா வரலை என்று சொல்ல பெரியவா உடனே சிரிச்சா.

·         காக்கா பிதிரு சொருபம்ஆ  இருக்கா என்று சொல்லுவா. அதனால சிரார்த்தம் அன்னிக்கு காக்காக்கு சாதம் போடறோம். எல்லா பிதிருக்களும் காக்காவா வந்திருக்கா என்று சொல்லுவா. பகவான் எல்லாத்திலுக்கும்  இருக்கும் என்று சொல்லுவா. காக்காவிலும் பகவான் இருக்கான். சாதம் போடுவதால் நாம பித்ருக்களை பிரித்தி பண்றதா நினைக்கிறோம்.  பகவான் எல்லாதிலும் இருக்கா என  காக்காவிலும் பகவான் இருக்கா. நாம சுவாமிக்கு நைவேத்தியம் பண்றோம். பகவான் சாப்பிடுகிறாரா?   ஆனால் அந்த சாதத்தை காக்காவிற்கு போடும் போது அந்த காக்காவலுள்ள அந்தர்யாமியாக உள்ள பகவான்  கொத்தி கொத்தி சாப்பிடுற  நாம  பார்க்கலாம இல்லையா. அங்கு இருந்த வித்வான்கள் எல்லாம் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டா ஏன்னா காக்காவிற்கு சாதம் போடறதா எப்படி வியாக்கனம்  பண்றா என்று.

பெரியவா அத்வைத சொருபமாக இருந்தா இருக்கா. பெரியவாளுக்கு எலியும் ஒன்னுதா. காக்காவும் ஒன்னுதாம். அதைவிட சொல்ற அழகு தனி அழகாக இருந்தது. வித்வான்கள் எல்லாம் ரசிச்சாஃ

பித்ருக்களை பிரித்தி பண்ண மாதிரி மாச்சு. அதைப் போல பகவானை ஆராதனனை  பண்ண மாதிரி ஆச்சு. பகவானுக்கு சாதம் போடுகிறோம். ஆனால் காக்கா கொத்தி சாப்பிடுதறதை பார்;த்தா ஆனந்தாமா இருக்கு.

காத்தால காக்கைக்கு சுவாமிக்கு நைவேத்தியம் பண்ணிட்டு போடறோம். அத போல ராத்திரி நாய்க்கு சாதம் போடுவது நமது சம்பிரதாயம். இதை மனிதாபம் சொல்றோம். அததான் சாஸ்திரம் சொல்றது. நமக்கு எல்லா ஜிவ ராசிகளிடம் நமக்கு அன்பு வரணும்

தாயுமானவர் சொல்றார். பகவானை பாருங்கோ நானு காக்கா மாதிரி சொல்ற. ஆனா நாம யாரும் பரமானந்தத்தை அடைய முயலலை.நானும் காக்கா மாதிரி எல்லாரும் பகவானை அடையனும்ற. காக்கா மாதிரி நானும் கத்தற. பகவரனை அடையலாம். யாரும் வரமாட்டேங்கிறா. அதனால வருத்தம் படறார்.

அதைப் போல சின்ன சின்ன உயிரினங்கள் சாப்பிடுதற பார்த்து ரசிக்கனும். இது மாதிரி இருந்தா நம் கிட்ட இருக்கிற தோஷங்களா போயிடும். நாமும் பு மாதிரி ஆயிடுவோம். அதாதான் பெரியவா நாம் எல்லாம் அன்பு மயமாக இருக்கணும் சொல்றா. நாமும் பெரியவா வழியல நடப்போம்.

As power went off, computer failed to respond downloading, only 6 minutes of speech was possible today i.e. 11 12 13.

Periyava is suggesting some ways for his devotees. He was advising the path to be followed. If we do this, he can get relief from this jenmam.Moreover
he will attain sarkathi. So do this way. Periyava ways of suggesting things will always come around dharma path only. It will be simple and no cost involved.Periyava path will be which will be stable,permanent etc. All devotees must be in good state- that is shemama irukanum.

Another woman devotee came to Periyava with the incident of that a crow comes often and touches her head and she was in state of fear of thosham. Periyava asked the woman devotee whether you feed the crows daily. Periyava suggested some ways like feeding crows daily,visit sivan temple and also lit lamps with gingellly oil . After hearing this, this woman devotee went away.

In this srimatam, elephants,rats,cats,monkeys etc all are coming and doing some mischiefs. Why no crows are visiting the place?. A kaingariya devotee Kannan told Periyava that Periyava is Parameswaran and so saneeswaran is not coming near Parameswaran and also not his sending his vehicle- crow to Sri Matam. Periyava laughed at this matter.

Periyava then said that crows are seen pithrus and so why we feed them during sradhams..Bagawan is inside all the creatures of the almighty and so bagwan is also inside of the crows.If we feed the crows, it is like satisfying the almighty because god is there in all creations of the almighty.
We are doing neivathiayms to god but we are not able to see the god taking our food. But if we feed the crows, we can the crows taking our food and eating and so in this manner, we can see bagwan which is inside all the creations taking food and we can feel happy. Many vidwans who were present liked this explanations of Periyava about crows feeding by us. Moreover for Periyava, everything is alike - for humans- where Periyava is following the path of advaitam. We can watch the crows taking food not only one but also invite others of his kind for taking food. We have to feed the crows in the morning and in the evening, we have to feed dogs. This is our samprathayam. That is we must show kindness to living creatures surrounding us.

Thayumanavar in his songs says that he is calling all devotees to enjoy the almighty but no one is coming forward like crows shouting at other crows to take food. Crows are shouting and call other crows to share the food. Likewise I want all the people to enjoy paramanandam like crows but human beings are not coming forward to enjoy the almighty.

We must admire the beauty of small creatures taking food like squirrel, sparrows etc. so that we can show likeliness of bagwan creations. If we show likeliness like this, we can change and we will ge moulded to soft ones. So Periyava shows the way of anbu to all.

Chidamabaram was one of the pancha bhootha kshetram, the Akasha (space) Kshetram. Amongst the innumerable devotees who desired to bring Maha Periyava to their towns, the noteable ones are Mahamahopadhyay Dhandapani Swamy Dikshithar – belonging to the illustrious and devoted sect of Dikshithars, and Mahamahopadhyay Dakshinatya Kalanidhi U.V.Swaminatha Iyer. Raja Sir Annamalai Chettiar had also been persuading our Maha Periyavato visit Chidambaram. The Dikshithars and other citizens of Chidambaram requested Swamigal to visit after the completion of Sankara Jayanthi. Swamigal accepted the invitation of the Dishithars and agreed to come. The residents of the city had made arrangements for a welcome that is suitable for a Kanchi Acharya who was coming to their town for the first time. The Dikshithar community along with the general public gathered in the outskirts of the town on May 18th, 1933 (Fifth day of the lunar month of Vaikasi) and welcomed Swamigal with purna Kumbam, Veda Gosham, Bhajan groups, Nadaswaram and melam. They took him on a procession around the four Ratha Streets. Thousands of people had darshan of Swamigal and obtained his blessings.

Kanchi Periyava mahimai Sankara TV 10 12 13

Periyava likes very much the people who follow the path of darma. A devotee family came to Periyava that they want to do upanayanam for their son at Sri Matam. Periayava gave consent with some conditions. 1. Must have kudimi,must perform samithanam for 4 days and other things, must do sandhayavathanam and must try to avoid taking food outside. The father thought for a while and it is not good to cross the path of guru after accepting the conditions. So he prayed to Periyava that my body must follow the conditions- for this Periyava must do anugraham. Later Periyava blessed the boy and and the boy is now well also.

A group of boys came for darsan of Periyava. Periyava called a boy and enquired about the boy. The boy told that he is from Sama vedam and Srivatsa gothram. Periyava told the parents of the boy to clean his hair in his head before upanayanam. Periyava told the boy to do (mottai) before upanayanam. That boy
was reluctant initially and was standing before Periyava. At that time a bus full of pilgrims from Andhra came with their heads clean shaven and were before Periyava for darsan. That boy who was hesistant initially told Periyava that he is ready for mottai (shaving hair in his head) . Thus Periyava slowly turned the boy to follow the path of dharma.We are somewhat hesistant to follow our dharma but our guru tells slowly to follow our path. So is the importance of guru

This is the story of Tiruvanmiyur Chandrasekar. This devotee was born due to the blessings of Periyava. Their parents gave births to more children but many of them died due to some reasons or other. After writing several times Sri Rama jayam, this boy was born. Eventhough this boy had the blessings of Periyava, he paid little attention towards Periayva or to Sri Matam. So one of his friends advised him to visit Sri Matam and sought the blessings of Periyava. He also advised him to tell Periyava about their origin of ancestors when going for darsan of Periyava.

Periyava enquired about the devotee. The devotee told Tindivanamn then mailam and then Nallamur Ramachandran. Periyava enquired and got all the details. Periyava reacted as if he had knew nothing but later asked whether are you a Tamil or a Telegu. Later the devotee told that he belongs to Telegu. Periyava initially was of the view that he knew nothing but got all the details from that devotee.

The devotee Chandrasekaran was studying at Vivekananda college and staying at Guindy. He had some difficulties for meals. So his mother wrote a letter to Periyava stating his son’s difficulties. Periyava got the letter and preserved it. When a devotee of Mylapore Kalyani Mess in charge came for darsan of Periyava, Periyava asked the mess in charge to feed that devotee Chandrasekar for two times daily with a condition that he must have kudimi and also gave the details of the boy studying in the college. ,Mylapore mess owner went to the college and called the boy and the boy met the mess owner at Mylapore after some time. The mess owner told the boy to take meals as per Periayva instructions with a condition that he must have kudimi. After hearing all these things, Chandrasekar refused to comply with the condition of kudimi and he started moving. The mess owner advised him that he must not act fast in all matters and this is as per instructions of Periyava.

The mess owner told Chandrasekar that Periyava wants to follow our dharmam only and you can think for some days as he will be going to Sri Matam after some days. But Chandrasekar was steadfast in his attutide and said that he was not prepared for meals and he will not be having kudimi. If we are to follow Periyava’s instructions, I must follow for ever. After taking meals for two years, I may go without kudimi . That was not good. So I am of the firm opinion that I am not going with the idea of kudimi and he went away. He did not take food at the mess also. This was the story of that devotee at that time. When Periyava offered food with a condition that he must have kudimi, he refused for that. See how this devotee goes further.

Periyava has made a sankalpam, he will enter inside and will make us act according to his wishes. That is for good. We may not know the wishes of Periyava. Likewise this devotee danced later to the tune of Periayva.
This devotee came to Sri Matam often and was attached with Sri Matam also.Later he got associated with Shri Suddananda Bharati and was doing kaingairyam for some period. He advised him to get married, he refused saying that he was not interested in lowgigam and so why he cam to him. Shri Suddanand Bharathi swamigal clearly told that you have to experience your prarapdam i..e you have to get married and live accordingly . Later he blessed him also. He got married and got three sons and they were stuying in a school which was having upto 7th standard. Three sons were studying in 7th, 6th and third 4th. They were to be admitted in a new school and they were ready to admit that boy in 6th class. The boy was not ready to read in 6th class.

At that time, he was reading Theivathin Kural and he came across some things about allowing boys for reading vedam. Periyava was at Vishakaptnam and was talking about Vedha Rakshna trust etc. At that time, many devotees came forward with lot of donations but Periayava wanted one boy for a family. At that time, many who came forward with money fell silent and Periyava wanted a boy for a family to study vedam as money can be got from many. One devotee came forward to leave his son for studying vedam and Periyava was happy. Impressed upon this incident,the devotee Chandrasekar left two boys at Hyderabad and the elder at Kanchipuram to study vedam. At Kanchipuram, the boy was not able to continue vedam and so he came home. He was not happy with Periyava that as per his instructions he left not one boy but three boys to study vedam. But the patasalai at Kanchipuram was not good and so the fault lies on you. When he was sleeping , Periyava came in the dream and told to apply tilak on his face daily telling my namam and the boy will go to the right place. You need not worry. Accordingly that devotee was applying tilak daily to the boy praying Periyava daily.He went to a good job later.

His two sons are earning through vaideekam and are experts in the vedic field. The devotee Chandrasekar gets food from the two vaidik sons who are having kudimi. The devotee Chandrasekar failed to get on with kudimi in his early days but Periyava made Chandrasekar to get food through two sons and made it permanent to get food from the sons who are having kudimi. Thus Periyava did challenging anugraham to Chandrasekar.
