தமிழில் தான் ஜாஸ்தி

குப்பா ஆஞ்சநேய சாஸ்த்ரிகள் வியாகரண வித்வான். ஆந்திரா தேசத்துக்காரர். பெரியவாளுடைய பக்தர். ஆசார சீலர். 

பெரியவாளுக்கு வந்தனம் செய்தபோது அத்வைத பரமான சுலோகங்களை அழகாக சொல்லிக்கொண்டே வந்தார். 

பெரியவா அவரை உட்கார சொன்னார்கள். 

அந்த சமயத்தில் ஒரு பக்தர் வந்து, 'காயமே இது பொய்யடா, காற்றடைத்த பையடா,' என்று சித்தர் பாடலை சொல்லிக்கொண்டே நமஸ்காரம் செய்தார். 

பெரியவா, அருகிருந்த ஓர் அன்பரிடம், அந்த தமிழ் பாட்டை தெலுங்கில் மொழி பெயர்த்து விளக்கி, குப்பா சாஸ்த்ரிகளுக்கு சொல்லும்படி பணித்தார். 

பாடலின் உட்கருத்தை கேட்டு புரிந்து கொண்ட சாஸ்த்ரிகளுக்கு ஒரே குதூகலம். பெரியவாளிடம் தெலுங்கில் 'தமிழில் கூட வேதாந்த வாக்கியம் இருக்கிறதா?' என்று கேட்டார். 

'தமிழில் தான் ஜாஸ்தியா இருக்கு' என்று உறுதியாக சொன்னார்கள், பெரியவா.

பெரியவாளின் வேகத்தை கண்டு சாஸ்த்ரிகளுக்கு பிரமிப்பு ஏற்பட்டது. ஏனென்றால் அதுவரை தமிழ் மொழியையும் தமிழ் பேசுபவர்களையும் சற்று குறைவாக கருதி வந்தார் அவர். 

Periyava after telling these lines and also listed some more poets about their writings in Tamil about vedantham. Periyava also gave some hints about Vallalar songs,Thayumanavar songs etc. Siddar songs are there telling about things vedantaham. Moreover our Tamil culture also says about vedantham. Moreover kavadi, karakattam, poikal kudirai etc also says a lot about vedantham.
நமது கரகாட்டம் காவடி பொய்க்கால் குதிரை போன்ற கலைகள் முலமாகவும் நாம வேதாந்த;த்தை நாம சொல்றோம். 

Some girls were playing thattam pilai. They also recite vedantham saying we are born here and after some time we are born somewhere. If we have no births, we will be out. The girls playing thattam pilai- going from one pillar to another pillar also recite some vedanthams. Through these Periayava gave
some hints to that swamigal that Tamil has more vendatham songs.

Raghavendrar came in dream

Six devotees of Madhwa tradition came to Periyava sannidhi and had darsan. Why they came from Manthralayam.? It is a wonder. Madwa traditional devotees have respect on Adhisankarar. But due to Ragavendrar coming in the dream, the six devotees came from Mantralayam to Kanchipuram for darsan of Periyava. The six devotees had a good dream of Lord Ragavendrar coming in their dreams and asking them to visit Kalavai for darsan of Periyava. The dream came for all the six devotees at a same time. So why they came from Mantralayam for darsan of Periyava. Periyava honoured with shawls as they were vidwans in various fields and asked the kaingria devotees to provide good lunch. After meals,they came to Periyava and invited Periyava to visit Mandralayam brindavan. The devotees who were with Periayva were wondering about the reply of Periyava. Periyava never assured that he will come to Mantralayam. Moreover the tradion of the Sri Matam also never allows to visit other samadhis of other barambarai of sanyasis. So Periyava told them them brindavan is here itself as there are two brindavans of Gurus of Periyava. So Periyava is sarvagnan. Moreover it is not possible for Periyava to travel on foot to Mantralayam at his old age. 

அந்த ஆறு பக்தர்கள் கனவில் வந்து ராகவேந்திரர் காஞ்சி சென்று ;பெரியவாளை தரிசனம் பண்ண உத்திரவு ஆச்சு. அதனால உடனே மந்திராலயதிலிருந்து நேராக காஞ்சி வந்து பெரியவாளை தரிசனம் பண்ணினா. பெரியவா அந்த ஆறு வித்வானுக்கு ஷால் போர்த்தி மரியாதை செய்தா. ;அவா உடனே மந்திராலயம் வந்து ராகவேந்திரர் பிருந்தாவன தரிசனம் செய்ய சொன்னா. பெரியவா நிச்யமாக அந்த வயதிலிருந்து போக முடியாது. பெரியவா இங்கே பிருந்தாவனம் இருக்குனு சொன்னா. பிறகு அவர்கள் பெரியவாளிடம் உத்திரவு பெற்று சென்றார்கள். 

The couple with their second son were before Periyava. They wanted to perform marriage for this second son. But they were more worried as their first son was missing for more years. They wanted to perform marriage for the first son and then the second son. But his whereabouts was not known. They were more worried. Periyava gave a simple solution of performing a marriage for Arasa maram in their area. Even now the place where arasa maram and neem tree are present , it is a good place for performing rounds and it has been proved scientifically proved that is beneficial one to body. Thus Periyava gave a simple solution to the complex problem. 
பக்தர் குடும்பத்தில் பெரிய பையன் பல காலமாக காணவிலை. பல இடங்களில் தேடியும் பலனில்லை. சின்ன பையனுக்கு கல்யாணம் பண்ணனும். பெரியவனுக்கு பண்ணாமா மனசு கேட்கலை. பெரியவாளிடம் முறையிட்டா. பெரியவா ஊரில இருக்கிற அரச மரத்திற்கு கல்யாணத்தை பண்ணு. அப்பறம் சின்ன பையனுக்கு கல்யாணத்தை பண்ணு என்று சொன்னா. 

Another devotee family came with a girl of marriageable age and she was lean.She has to be married. The family wanted a solution for the problem. Periyava told the devotee that have you heard of madimanthraousatham. So go to Kumbakonam, mamangakulam, Kasi Viswanathanar temple, sapatha kannigais are there,do abhishegam, and perform maman ga pondugal. Another thing mantram- consult your vathiyar, ask him manthram , Suyam…. Manthram , recite mantrams daily . Another thing – Periyava named one doctor of Ayurvedic medicine, consult why the girl is so lean? . Periyava gave these suggestions. Periyava gave not only did upadesams but also did anugraham. After sometime, the girl got married. These are due to Periyava. 

Madimanthra oushtham 

ஒல்லியான பெண்னை அழைத்துக் கொண்டு பெரியவாளிடம் வந்து இந்த பெண்ணுக்கு திருமணம் ஆக அனுக்கிரகம் பண்ண சொன்னா. பெரியவா உடனே தகப்பனாரிடம் மடிமந்திரஔஷதம் கேள்விபட்டிருக்கிறயோ. அதாவது கும்பகோணத்தில் மகாமக குளத்தில இருக்கிற காசி விஸ்வநாதர் கோயில் இருக்கிற சப்த கன்னிகைகளுக்கு மங்கிலி புண்டு பன்னு. அப்பறம் ஆத்து வாத்தியாரை கேட்டு ……….. மந்திர உபதேசம் பெற்று ஜபம் பண்ண சொன்னு. பிறகு ஆயுர்வேதத்த டாக்டரிடம் காண்பித்து உடம்பு புஷடியாக மருந்து வாங்கி சாப்பிட சொல்லு. 


A devotee came to Periyava with a daughter affected by ‘blood chogai ‘ இரத்த சோகை. பெரியவாகிட்ட சொன்ன.இரத்த சோகைக்கு தங்கபஸ்’பம் சாப்பிடுனம்ன சொல்றா. பெரியவா இதுக்கு நா என்ன செய்யனும். தங்கபஸ்பம் வாஙகி சாப்பிடு. உடம்பு சரியாடும்.

பக்தர் உடனே அதை வாங்கி சாப்பிட வசதி இருந்தா நான் ஏன் அவஸ்திப்படனும்.

பெரியவா உடனே நீ மணத்தக்காளி கீரை கேளவிப்பட்டிருக்கிறயா. அதல தங்கம் இருக்குனு டாக்டர்கள் சொல்றா. அதனால தினக்கும் அதை வாங்கி சாப்பாடுல சேர்த்துக்க.உடம்பு சரியாடும். மணத்தக்காளி ஏழைகளின் தங்க பஸ்பம்..

They told that the doctors asked them to take thanga paspam. Periyava told for this, what can I do. Take thanga paspam. The devotee told if I had the capacity to take thanga paspam, I won’t be affected by this disease. There is no money for me to take all these things. So Periyava suggested another thing. Have you heard of Manathakali. That is poor man thangapaspam. Take manathakalli daily in your food. Doctors say that manathakali had some gold contents in it. So take manthakali daily. Accordingly they took manathakali and got cured. That was due to anaugraham of Periyava. 

பெரியவா மனோத்தவ நிபுணர். 

girl going to be married failed to give consent for nose ring as she is going to get married. Her parents wanted her to have the nose ring but she not gave her consent. They came for Periyava. That girl and their parents were sitting before Periayava. At that time, the minister Shri Pattarabhiraman and his wife came to Periyava for darsan. Periayava was discussing with the minister and the girl who had to be married was talking with the minister’s wife. After the darsan of Periayava, minister and his wife left the place. Periyava saw the girl conversing with the minister’s wife. 

After they left Periayava asked the girl about the minister’s wife. The girl replied that the minister’s wife was like Mahalakshi. Periyava asked the girl , why can’t you also look like Mahalkshmi. Periyava asked the girl whether the girl had seen Mahalakshi. The girl replied yes. Like Mahalakshimi, you can also wear bullog- third ornament in the nose. The girl was shell shocked to hear this from Periyava and gave consent for nose ring. Till Periyava posed the question about the bullog, the girl never even gave consent for nose ring. But when Periyava told about bullog, she agreed for nose ring. The parents were happy and left the place. They admired about Periyava management and also Periyava psychology. 
கல்யாணம் ஆக வேண்டிய பெண். அந்த பெண் நான் முக்குத்தி குத்தாமாட்டேன் என அடம் பிடிச்சுது. அப்பா அம்மா உடனே பெரியவாளிடம் முறையீடு. பெரியவா அந்த சமயம் மந்திரி மந்திரி சம்ஸாரம் பெரியவாளை பார்க்க வந்தா. பெரியவாளும் மந்திரியும் நிறைய சமாச்சாரங்கள் பேசியிருந்தா. அந்த சமயம் கல்யாணம் ஆக வேண்டிய பெண்ணும் மந்திரி மாமியும் பேசிக் கொண்டிருந்தா. பெரியவா அதைத் பார்த்தா. அவா போன உடன் பெரியவா அந்த பெண்ணிடம் மந்திரி மாமி எப்படி இருந்தா. உடனே அந்த பெண் மகாலட்சுமி மாதிரி இருந்தா. உனக்கு அது மாதிரி இருக்க ஆசையில்லயா. நீயும் மகாலட்சுமி மாதிரி இருக்கலாம். புல்லாகு போட்டுக்கோ. அந்த பெண் முக்குத்தி குத்துக்க இசையலை. பெரியவா அதை புல்லாகு பேரட்டுக்கோ சொன்னவுடன் அந்த பெண் நிலை குலைந்து போயிட்டா. புல்லாகு முக்கில போடுறது. அந்த பெண் பெரியவாளிடம் புலலாகு வேண்டாம். நான் வேணும்னா முக்குத்தி பேரட்டுகிற. பெரியவாளிடம் அந்த பெண் சொன்னவுடன் கூட இருந்த அப்பா அம்மாவுக்கு பரம சந்தோசம். பெரியவா பெரிய காரியத்தை செய்ய சொன்னா. அந்த பெண் அதற்கு இசையாம மூக்குத்திக்கு ஒத்துக்கொண்டா. பெரியவா மனோத்தவ நிபுணர். 

A devotee came to Sri Matam with a basket full of flowers. He wanted to place it before Periayva for puja. A kaingariya devotee saw the basket full of flowers and saw the flowers were joined together by a thread instead plaintain thread. In Srimatam, garlands are accepted with plaintain threads and not with threads of other materials. So that devotee was witnessing the puja. After the puja was over, thirtha prasadam was given, Periayva came on that way where that devotee was there. Periyava noticed the basket full of flowers and asked the kaingria devotee the reasons for placing the basket full of flowers here and not sent for puja. The kaingariya devotee replied that the garlands were made of threads of other materials and were not sent for puja. For Chandramouliswarar, garlands made of plaintain threads is essential but not for me. Periyava asked the devotee whether you knew this or not. After hearing the devotee of his ignorance, Periyava asked the kaingariya devotee to put the garlands on him. The devotee who took the garlands were happy because the garlands were for Chandramouliswara and now Chandramousliwar in the form of Periyava adorned the garlands. Thus Periyava made that devotee happy.
பக்தர் ஒரு கூடை நிறைய பு கொண்டு வந்தார். அது நூல் ஆனா கட்டப்பட்டது. அதை மடத்தில இருந்தவங்க புஜைக்கு அனுப்பலை. அவருக்கு அது தெரியாது. தீர்த்தம் கொடுத்த பின். பெரியவா அந்த வழியாக வந்தா. 
கூடை நிறைய பு பார்தா. ஏன் சாமிக்கு அனுப்பல. உடனே அது நாரால கட்டலை சொன்னா. சந்திரமௌலீஸ்வரருக்கு வேண்டாம். நான் ;போட்டுக்கலாம. உடனே அதை எடுத்து என் மேல போடுன்னு சொன்னா. சாட்சாத் சந்திரமௌலீஸ்வரருக்கு போட்ட போல தான் எல்லாத்தையும் சுவிரித்துக் கொண்டா. பக்தர் அடைந்த ஆனந்ததிற்கு அளவேயில்லை

.Jata parayanam @Nerur for 25th aradhana – Dec 23 to Jan 3

I have a great pleasure in sharing the invitation for jata parayanam for Mahaperiyava’s 23rd aradhana conducted by Atirudram Sri Ravi. As you all are aware Sri Ravi is one of the very very few devotees who is gifted with a true selfless attitude doing kainkaryam purely for Veda rakshnam and for universal peace. One of the most admirable things in their approach is to do the Jayanthi/aradhana mahotsvam in most of the Kanchi Acharyas adhishtanams – it is not just conducting the event but also do whatever renovation (within their limits) to that place as needed. While we are too busy in talking only about Mahaperiyava, we should remember that there are so many other Periyavas in the lineage who lived as jivanmuktas, whom we need to take time to celebrate their thithis, visit their adishtanams etc. Sri Sadashiva Brahmendral’s mahathmiyam is so vast. With benevolent anugraham of HH Mahaperiava, our trust has been spearheading many Athirudrams, Jataparayanam and Shatha Chandi at every other known Adishtanams of the revered Acharyas of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam and other Holy places related to Kanchi Mutt and it is fortunate to conduct this Jataparayanam at the Holy place in Nerur where HH Sri Sadashiva Brahmendral, one of the greatest Avadhuta saints of the Advaitha philosophy took jeeva samadhi and continues to shower His compassionate grace on all devotees.

HH Mahaswamigal of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam cherished deep meditation at this holy shrine. HH Sri Sadashiva Brahmendral had close association with the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam.

The above Sanskrit verse highlights the importance and significance of Jataaparayanam. In particular, the phrase “JatayantuSahasrakam” goes on to extol that JataParayanam, whenever performed, is equivalent to a thousand Vedic sacred acts performed together. Keeping in mind Universal well-being, a full-fledged Jataparayanam will be conducted with 40 Ritwiks/veda pundits from Rig, Yajur and Sama veda participating with utmost dedication and focus. This magnificent vedic event will also be accompanied by devout parayanam of Ramayanam, Srimad Bhagavatham and Sri Sankara Bhashyam texts.

The entire event shall be soaked in bhakti and piety, with immaculate chanting of the Veda mantras by Rithwiks, volunteers organizing the day to day operations and devotees getting thoroughly engrossed in every other ritual. The following table highlights the key activities on each day.

7:15am – Guru Vandanam
8am – 12pm – Jataparayanam
3:30pm – 8pm – Jataparayanam continues

Approximate expenses for the above Jataparayanam is estimated around Rs. 18 Lakhs for 12 days covering major items such as dravyam for parayanam, rithwik sambhavanai (Per rithwik Sambhavanai 20,000/-) and samaradhanai.

Devotees are invited to come and participate in this Yagnya in large numbers and receive the blessings of HH Sri Sathguru Sadashiva Brahmendral swamigal, HH Sri Mahaperiyava and the Jagadguru Acharyas of Kanchi Kamakoti peetam. Periyava likes very much the people who follow the path of darma. A devotee family came to Periyava that they want to do upanayanam for their son at Sri Matam. Periayava gave consent with some conditions. 1. Must have kudimi,must perform samithanam for 4 days and other things, must do sandhayavathanam and must try to avoid taking food outside. The father thought for a while and it is not good to cross the path of guru after accepting the conditions. So he prayed to Periyava that my body must follow the conditions- for this Periyava must do anugraham. Later Periyava blessed the boy and and the boy is now well also.

A group of boys came for darsan of Periyava. Periyava called a boy and enquired about the boy. The boy told that he is from Sama vedam and Srivatsa gothram. Periyava told the parents of the boy to clean his hair in his head before upanayanam. Periyava told the boy to do (mottai) before upanayanam. That boy
was reluctant initially and was standing before Periyava. At that time a bus full of pilgrims from Andhra came with their heads clean shaven and were before Periyava for darsan. That boy who was hesistant initially told Periyava that he is ready for mottai (shaving hair in his head) . Thus Periyava slowly turned the boy to follow the path of dharma.We are somewhat hesistant to follow our dharma but our guru tells slowly to follow our path. So is the importance of guru

This is the story of Tiruvanmiyur Chandrasekar. This devotee was born due to the blessings of Periyava. Their parents gave births to more children but many of them died due to some reasons or other. After writing several times Sri Rama jayam, this boy was born. Eventhough this boy had the blessings of Periyava, he paid little attention towards Periayva or to Sri Matam. So one of his friends advised him to visit Sri Matam and sought the blessings of Periyava. He also advised him to tell Periyava about their origin of ancestors when going for darsan of Periyava.

Periyava enquired about the devotee. The devotee told Tindivanamn then mailam and then Nallamur Ramachandran. Periyava enquired and got all the details. Periyava reacted as if he had knew nothing but later asked whether are you a Tamil or a Telegu. Later the devotee told that he belongs to Telegu. Periyava initially was of the view that he knew nothing but got all the details from that devotee.

The devotee Chandrasekaran was studying at Vivekananda college and staying at Guindy. He had some difficulties for meals. So his mother wrote a letter to Periyava stating his son’s difficulties. Periyava got the letter and preserved it. When a devotee of Mylapore Kalyani Mess in charge came for darsan of Periyava, Periyava asked the mess in charge to feed that devotee Chandrasekar for two times daily with a condition that he must have kudimi and also gave the details of the boy studying in the college. ,Mylapore mess owner went to the college and called the boy and the boy met the mess owner at Mylapore after some time. The mess owner told the boy to take meals as per Periayva instructions with a condition that he must have kudimi. After hearing all these things, Chandrasekar refused to comply with the condition of kudimi and he started moving. The mess owner advised him that he must not act fast in all matters and this is as per instructions of Periyava.

The mess owner told Chandrasekar that Periyava wants to follow our dharmam only and you can think for some days as he will be going to Sri Matam after some days. But Chandrasekar was steadfast in his attutide and said that he was not prepared for meals and he will not be having kudimi. If we are to follow Periyava’s instructions, I must follow for ever. After taking meals for two years, I may go without kudimi . That was not good. So I am of the firm opinion that I am not going with the idea of kudimi and he went away. He did not take food at the mess also. This was the story of that devotee at that time. When Periyava offered food with a condition that he must have kudimi, he refused for that. See how this devotee goes further.

Periyava has made a sankalpam, he will enter inside and will make us act according to his wishes. That is for good. We may not know the wishes of Periyava. Likewise this devotee danced later to the tune of Periayva.
This devotee came to Sri Matam often and was attached with Sri Matam also.Later he got associated with Shri Suddananda Bharati and was doing kaingairyam for some period. He advised him to get married, he refused saying that he was not interested in lowgigam and so why he cam to him. Shri Suddanand Bharathi swamigal clearly told that you have to experience your prarapdam i..e you have to get married and live accordingly . Later he blessed him also. He got married and got three sons and they were stuying in a school which was having upto 7th standard. Three sons were studying in 7th, 6th and third 4th. They were to be admitted in a new school and they were ready to admit that boy in 6th class. The boy was not ready to read in 6th class.

At that time, he was reading Theivathin Kural and he came across some things about allowing boys for reading vedam. Periyava was at Vishakaptnam and was talking about Vedha Rakshna trust etc. At that time, many devotees came forward with lot of donations but Periayava wanted one boy for a family. At that time, many who came forward with money fell silent and Periyava wanted a boy for a family to study vedam as money can be got from many. One devotee came forward to leave his son for studying vedam and Periyava was happy. Impressed upon this incident,the devotee Chandrasekar left two boys at Hyderabad and the elder at Kanchipuram to study vedam. At Kanchipuram, the boy was not able to continue vedam and so he came home. He was not happy with Periyava that as per his instructions he left not one boy but three boys to study vedam. But the patasalai at Kanchipuram was not good and so the fault lies on you. When he was sleeping , Periyava came in the dream and told to apply tilak on his face daily telling my namam and the boy will go to the right place. You need not worry. Accordingly that devotee was applying tilak daily to the boy praying Periyava daily.He went to a good job later.

His two sons are earning through vaideekam and are experts in the vedic field. The devotee Chandrasekar gets food from the two vaidik sons who are having kudimi. The devotee Chandrasekar failed to get on with kudimi in his early days but Periyava made Chandrasekar to get food through two sons and made it permanent to get food from the sons who are having kudimi. Thus Periyava did challenging anugraham to Chandrasekar.

Periyava is suggesting some ways for his devotees. He was advising the path to be followed. If we do this, he can get relief from this jenmam.Moreover
he will attain sarkathi. So do this way. Periyava ways of suggesting things will always come around dharma path only. It will be simple and no cost involved.Periyava path will be which will be stable,permanent etc. All devotees must be in good state- that is shemama irukanum.

Another woman devotee came to Periyava with the incident of that a crow comes often and touches her head and she was in state of fear of thosham. Periyava asked the woman devotee whether you feed the crows daily. Periyava suggested some ways like feeding crows daily,visit sivan temple and also lit lamps with gingellly oil . After hearing this, this woman devotee went away.

In this srimatam, elephants,rats,cats,monkeys etc all are coming and doing some mischiefs. Why no crows are visiting the place?. A kaingariya devotee Kannan told Periyava that Periyava is Parameswaran and so saneeswaran is not coming near Parameswaran and also not his sending his vehicle- crow to Sri Matam. Periyava laughed at this matter.

Periyava then said that crows are seen pithrus and so why we feed them during sradhams..Bagawan is inside all the creatures of the almighty and so bagwan is also inside of the crows.If we feed the crows, it is like satisfying the almighty because god is there in all creations of the almighty.
We are doing neivathiayms to god but we are not able to see the god taking our food. But if we feed the crows, we can the crows taking our food and eating and so in this manner, we can see bagwan which is inside all the creations taking food and we can feel happy. Many vidwans who were present liked this explanations of Periyava about crows feeding by us. Moreover for Periyava, everything is alike - for humans- where Periyava is following the path of advaitam. We can watch the crows taking food not only one but also invite others of his kind for taking food. We have to feed the crows in the morning and in the evening, we have to feed dogs. This is our samprathayam. That is we must show kindness to living creatures surrounding us.

Thayumanavar in his songs says that he is calling all devotees to enjoy the almighty but no one is coming forward like crows shouting at other crows to take food. Crows are shouting and call other crows to share the food. Likewise I want all the people to enjoy paramanandam like crows but human beings are not coming forward to enjoy the almighty.

We must admire the beauty of small creatures taking food like squirrel, sparrows etc. so that we can show likeliness of bagwan creations. If we show likeliness like this, we can change and we will ge moulded to soft ones. So Periyava shows the way of anbu to all.
