KSCA-elections-Mallya-throws-weight-behind-Kumble/

Dr Vijay Mallya, who backed Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar last year, has decided to switch sides and support Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections, which will be held on November 21.

Kumble is challenging Wadiyar for the post of KSCA president, while Srinath is contesting for the secretary's position.

Mallya said he has known Wadiyar for 25 years and had great expectations from his leadership, but events over the last three years have left him frustrated. "I had great hopes in his (Wadiyar's) leadership but what I saw in the KSCA in the last three years can best be described as frustrating and has disillusioned me," Bangalore Mirror quoted Mallya as saying.

Though Mallya alleged Wadiyar's team sole agenda was to destroy KSCA secretary Brijesh Patel, he absolved the KSCA president of any wrongdoing. Interestingly, Patel has decided against contesting the elections and will be supporting the Kumble-led team.
